The Lawrence Aquahawks are excited to offer two evening programs in addition to our morning swim lessons this summer. Mini Hawks, which is usually run throughout the school year, is adapting to include the summer! Hatchlings is our brand new group, designed to introduce swimmers to the correct way to swim when it is evident they are clearly comfortable in the water and can float on their own.
Mini Hawks: For young swimmers with swim lesson experience in the water. While there are no set requirements for registration, we do recommend swimmers have completed Level 3 of our Group Swim Lessons Program or an equivalent. Swimmers in this group will be introduced to all four strokes in a small group setting. Swimmers will learn skills that range from how to kick and breathe properly, all the way through full stroke swimming. Instruction takes places in small groups with instructors in the water at all times. There are two primary focus points for this group, teaching basic skills that swimmers will need as they progress through the program, and enrich the swimmers love for the water.
Hatchlings: For swimmers with limited experience in the water. Swimmers must be able to float on their own, blow bubbles, and be comfortable in the water. Swimmers in this group will be taught by an in-water instructor. Swimmers will learn how to move through the water in order to prepare for Mini Hawks. Hatchlings will develop a love for the water as well as effective ways to move themselves through the water.
